REZUM, a new method used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH);
It is a minimally invasive method used in the treatment of BPH. BPH is a condition that occurs as part of the aging process and narrows the urinary tract as a result of the enlargement of the prostate. This can make it difficult to urinate and lead to symptoms.
REZUM treatment works by injecting hot water vapor into the prostate. During the procedure, a thin catheter is inserted into the prostate using a special device. The steam passing through the catheter is transmitted to the prostate tissue and heats and vaporizes this tissue. This reduces the volume of the prostate and helps open the urinary tract.
It is minimally invasive: The REZUM procedure does not require a surgical incision
and is usually performed under local anesthesia.
Fast recovery: After the procedure, patients generally experience a rapid recovery process and a rapid improvement in urinary symptoms.
Drug-free treatment: REZUM may be an option for patients who want to avoid the side effects of medications or who do not respond to medications.
Long-term effect: REZUM can provide long-term control of symptoms and improve patients’ quality of life.
Thus, after REZUM, semen leakage (retrograde ejaculation) and urinary incontinence, which occur in benign prostate surgery, are not observed.
REZUM treatment may be considered as an option for patients with BPH symptoms, but each patient is different and the choice of treatment should be made with a doctor at our center.
